After several trademark litigations, it was determined that the Horch name and brand belonged to August Horch’s former company and needed to be removed. During discussions over what to rename the company, a child suggested “audi.” Horch in German means “hear,” “to listen” in the Latin singular form is “audi.” And that is how the name came to be, Audi Automobilwerke GmbH Zwickau.
