We want to make sure that you know everything that you can to ensure that your new car stays in good shape for the duration of your time together. Weston Automotive is your MA Audi repair shop, specializing in both foreign and domestic vehicles. You already know that Audis are an expensive car to own and can be over $300 more to repair than other car brands. That is why our team is here to help you avoid some costly damages and repairs that could happen to your car if not appropriately maintained.
Learning Your Gears
If you are driving a manual Audi, you will need to know how to operate it before even stepping into the driving seat. If you already know how to change the gears in your car, we still advise you to shift the gears in the correct positions. Audi cars have turbochargers which give your car extra power. While that may be tempting for some people to power through using, it is not that great of an idea as not using the gears to speed up will cause wear on the turbocharger and shorten its lifespan. The last thing that you want to do is wear down your engine.
Using the Correct Fuel and Oil
Audis require the use of higher-octane fuel as it prevents something known as “knock.” Knock happens when fuel inside of the combustion chamber and prematurely ignites, causing damage to the engine. You should also make sure that you are using the right oil for your Audi. The car’s turbocharger can heat up more than a regular car engine might. This especially happens if you are driving at faster speeds for a longer amount of time. Having said this, it is crucial to make sure that you are using an oil that can keep that engine cool and clean. Synthetic oil is perfect for Audis as it has fewer impurities allowing it to keep running longer and cleaner.
Warm Up Your Car
Cars with turbocharged engines need a good amount of time to warm up before driving them hard. Doing this will allow your car to be warmed up to its optimum temperature. It will also allow the oil in the car to warm up to improve the quality of the engine while it is running.
